Natural selection.....

So, (in the absence of ethics) I have a question. Step into the milieu of natural selection and survival of the fittest. Ask, where would we be with out modern medicine? Let's say we did nothing to cure disease, illness, and deformity. Toss that in with human nature (if even on a subconscious level) to select a partner based on health. Granted there are other factors, personality, income, social status, ect., ect. Throw those out, like the rest of the animal kingdom does. Fundamentally, we have that underlying need to propagate. Reproduce with the hopes and aspirations of strong, healthy offspring. However, before I continue, do not believe that I am saying let the weak die off. I support modern medicine. It is invaluable.

Granted, there's always some new, fancy, incurable disease. But, just for the sake of a good science fiction story line, let's wonder. What would the human race be like, if we had let natural selection run it's course? Where would we be, if all the illnesses that afflict the human body, were not made latent, hidden by medicine? Only those who could survive, would reproduce. Think, after thousands of years in the absence of medicine, what would the human physical constitution be like?
